Two-Man Gang Assassinates Imo Commissioner (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

The commissioner of police in Imo state, Abdulmajid Ali has given a graphic account of how a commissioner in the Imo State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Tobias Onyekele was hacked to death by unknown gunmen in Owerri, the state capital Sunday evening.
According to him, Onyekele was shot along Okigwe Road just in front of MRS filling station before the Ugwu Orji Flyover. He was the Commissioner three of the commission whose death brings to three, officials of the state House of Assembly who had died in the last two years.
Speaking to journalists in his office, Abdulmajid Ali said that investigation by his men revealed that the gunmen were kidnappers and not assassins as were reported in the media.
He insisted that the killing was not politically-motivated, adding that there was nothing to suggest that as he was not running for any elective position.
According to him, the police findings showed that the victim suddenly discovered that his killers were trailing him, when he was double-crossed , he came down from his car and started running, a development he said that made the suspects to shoot him in the leg and later in the head.
The police boss lamented that rather than alert the security agents within the vicinity, on-lookers decided to watch and later took photographs of the incidents seconds after it occurred
The police boss also disclosed that it was the same gang that also kidnapped a woman and her baby along MCC/ Uratta Road.
The Police commissioner assured that with the incident, his command had fortified the nooks and crannies of the state to forestall future occurrence, even as he said investigation was ongoing to unravel the people behind the act.
