The 2014 Ballon d'Or winner scored twice for Real Madrid after a superb
assist from the French forward, while the Argentine hit a brilliant
hat-trick for Barcelona
La Liga reached its halfway stage with wins for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico at the weekend.
There was no change at the top as Madrid won 3-0 at Getafe, Barca thrashed Deportivo 4-0 and Atleti overcame Granada 2-0.
Elsewhere,
there were wins for Rayo Vallecano, Valencia, Villarreal, Espanyol and
Sevilla, who finish the first round of the competition in fourth place.
Here, Goal picks the standout performers from the latest round of action.
In goal, Jordi Codina
frustrated Madrid for an hour with some fine saves before Carlo
Ancelotti's side scored three times in the last 27 minutes to seal a
comfortable victory.
At the back, Ze Castro
impressed as Rayo Vallecano kept a clean sheet and took all three points
with an excellent 1-0 win at Real Sociedad. Elsewhere, Diego Godin was solid as usual for Atleti and Fernando Navarro was outstanding in a full-back role for in-form Sevilla.
In midfield, Dani Parejo scored and was omnipresent for Valencia in their 3-2 win over Almeria, while Denis Cheryshev was on target in a superb showing as Villarreal beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0. Ivan Rakitic shone and set up a goal for Lionel Messi in Barca's 4-0 win and James Rodriguez returned to form with two fine assists for Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in Getafe.
Karim Benzema
was key to Madrid's win as he set up Ronaldo for the opener with some
sublime skill on Sunday. The Frenchman is joined by two-goal Cristiano and Messi, who struck a superb hat-trick for Barca at Riazor.
