Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says the whole squad has been given a boost by the arrival of World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Wayne Rooney: Thrilled with Manchester United's signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger
The 29-year-old said the signing of the Germany skipper alongside Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin has given all the players in the squad a lift.
The Reds striker feels excited by the arrival of Schweinsteiger, who won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, and is looking forward to lining up alongside him and the rest of his new team-mates after flying out to the United States for the club's pre-season tour.
"Bastian is a very experienced player who has won everything in the game and it's great that he has chosen to join us and left a team like Bayern Munich to come here," Rooney told MUTV.
"Bastian speaks very good English so that's a boost for the squad, too. He's a fantastic player, he's shown that over the years and it's great that we've got him and I'm sure he'll be a good player for us.
"And Morgan as well " it's great to see Bastian, him, Matteo and Memphis all come in and give the squad a boost."
England skipper Rooney believes the arrivals herald "exciting times" for the club and said the new players had settled well within the squad after flying out to America.
United will compete in the International Champions Cup in the United States, which will include fixtures against Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as part of their preparations for the new season.
"It's exciting times and I'm sure over the next week or two it'll be great for us to get some training sessions in and get to know each other's games," Rooney said.
"We had the day we first flew out when we first met Bastian and Morgan and they've settled in as well as they can do in a couple of days. It's great to have them with us."
